Tie Dye Jeans!
How fun are these tie dye jeans from Tripp NYC? I was able to score them on sale at Urban Outfitters a while ago and I love them! I think Nasty Gal also has them on sale right now, so go grab yourself a pair! ;) I paired them with my comfy white sweater, skate heels, and neon beanie to go with all the bright colors.
In other news, I just got back from visiting my hometown. I got to go see some of my best friends at Purdue, which was super fun even though I couldn't see all of my friends since timing didn't work out so well. We did a small photo shoot, so I'll definitely be uploading those photos within the next few days. I'm also going to try filming some Youtube videos this week, so we'll see how that goes! I'm definitely going to be super busy since I'm starting all of my classes this week, too. I'll let you guys know how everything goes! :)

Interview With Emily Oot
I have been really into fashion design lately, so I decided to do an interview with one of my biggest fashion illustration inspirations: my friend Emily Oot. I met Emily on tumblr and absolutely love her sketches. Hope you all like the interview and please check out and like her facebook page!
Q: When did you first become interested in fashion?
I first became interested in fashion when I was much, much younger, I can't even remember exactly when honestly. I remember googling shows and designers when I was very young, and thinking I wouldn't want to ever do anything else or be in any other industry.
Q: What interested you the most about fashion?
I think the thing that interested me the most about fashion was how creative you could be with it. The sky's the limit when you're designing or illustrating.
Q: What are you studying right now?
Right now I am a Fashion Design major, but i'm taking the core "building block" classes that I need to graduate. I'm taking Drawing 2, Color Theory, and Western Art History.
Q: Where are you studying? How are your classes going?
I'm studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I adore my classes and I feel like I get so much out of it. I have already learned so much in only my second quarter here, and I feel all of it is absolutely applicable to Fashion Design.
Q: When did you first start illustrating fashion?

Q: Who are your favorite fashion illustrators?
I have a few favorite fashion illustrators that inspire me. Starting with Arturo Elena, the Spanish illustrator. I love his style and the way he uses detail. Another big favorite of mine is Danny Roberts. His style is so unique, it's very inspiring.
Q: Who are your favorite fashion designers?
This is another tough one! I have so many that it's so hard to choose, but I suppose if I had to pick one it would be Alexander McQueen. I think of him as such a creative genius, and what I look for in a good design is creativity. Not to mention his garments are such fun to illustrate. Honestly when it comes to my favorite designers and illustrators, the list could go on and on.
Q: Where do you picture yourself in 5 years?
In five years it is hard to say where I would like to be. Since I am in fashion design, my opportunities as an illustrator and designer are very broad. I could be illustrating for some of the great designers, or even designing for them. We will see how everything plays out, but i'm not going to stop illustrating or designing, so I know i'll be playing some part in the fashion industry.
Q: Do you have any tips for anyone wanting to go into fashion design or fashion illustration?
To anyone wanting to go into fashion design or fashion illustration, the key is to work hard, and practice. Fashion is a very competitive industry and i'm learning that already in school. Be prepared for a lot of work, and if you're thinking of applying to a school for fashion, make sure you have your best work ready in a portfolio, or work on building it! You should have a wide variety of work (from still lives and figure drawings, to illustrations and sewn garments) to show that you are well rounded and have your toe in the water, but ready to dive in and learn all you can. It really is a wonderful experience.
Thanks so much Emily for doing the interview!!

Plaid to the Bone
I absolutely love this black cardigan that I got at a Goodwill in San Antonio. It's so comfy and versatile. I paired it with my plaid Tripp NYC jeans that I cuffed so I could pair them with my spike HOMG high top platform sneakers. I topped everything off with my favorite Comme des Fuckdown hat. I'm so excited for this weekend because I'm going back to visit my high school friends at their colleges and go back to Indiana. In Indiana, I'm definitely going to be visiting a lot of thrift stores so I'll definitely be posting my thrifting finds.

Feeling Blue
Absolutely obsessed with Lime Crime lipsticks! I need to do a youtube review of them, for sure. I know there is a lot of controversy around them, but I just think the actual products are still great. I got the Oh No She Didn't (blue), Chinchilla (a purple grey), Mint To Be (mint green), Styletto (Black), and Airborne Unicorn (purple). I love them all even though they are all very out-there colors! Chinchilla and Airborne Unicorn are more wearable than the others if you don't like to stand out as much.
For this outfit, I wore the Oh No She Didn't shade. It stayed on all day even when I had a snack. Definitely super pigmented. It was a little drying, so I'd wear a lip balm underneath them.

DIY Fur Coat and Leopard Hellbounds!
I had been searching for a faux fur coat for a long time, but they were all so expensive! So, of course I decided to make my own. It was super easy, and turned out really well, so now I want one in every color of course. I paired this coat with my American Apparel petticoat (again! sorry haha) and my American Apparel ruffle socks (seriously the AA petticoats and ruffle socks were meant to be worn together!) and my favorites: the Unif Leopard Hellbounds. I've seen a lot of bloggers posting looks with leopard hellbounds lately, but they all seem to have the Nastygal version, which is a lot brighter and the spots are bigger. I like them both, but I prefer the darker original version because I think they're a lot grungier. Which is your fave?

Handmade Plexiglass Bag Look #2
This is my second look with my handmade plexiglass bag! I'm so glad it matches my favorite pair of neon shoes. I am going to try and make more of these bags by fusing the plexiglass together instead of drilling holes and sewing them since that takes so long. Maybe then I can open an online shop with them and some other designs! :)

P A S T E L S
The problem with American Apparel is that they're clothes are very simple and they make them in tons of colors, so you end up wanting/buying lots of the same thing in many colors. Or at least I do. Still obsessed with the petticoats, and the mint green pistachio color is lovely! Plus it matches my new Lime Crime lipstick in Mint To Be, which I'll do a Youtube review on soon.
I've been working on a lot of sketches lately as well, trying to improve my horrible drawing skills by drawing from Elle and Vogue. So far, it seems to be working. I'm actually pretty happy with the two sketches I've done so far! Now, I just need more Copic markers-if only they weren't so incredibly expensive. :(

Seeing Stars
I took these photos right before I left for Colorado for Christmas. It was so nice outside-I was completely comfortable in this dress with no sleeves and no tights! Now, New York is completely freezing. I don't want to leave my house even to get groceries because it's so cold haha...but at least spring is right around the corner! I have a feeling spring in the city will be wonderful-can't wait!
I picked up these Jeffrey Campbell Coltranes during Karmaloop's warehouse sale. Lot's of sale items were 75% off sale price-making these shoes a little less than $30. Amazing. My only regret is that I didn't buy more. ;) As for the shoes themselves, they are beautiful! My only compliant is that they do take a couple wears to break them in (wear with socks the first time for sure!) and the soles are made of a really cheap, foam-like material that wears down really quickly when you walk as much as I do. I think I'm going to just order some sole protectors though and see if they help...otherwise maybe I'll learn how to fix them in my shoe design class this spring (sooo excited)!
The galaxy dress is from www.choies.com!
Also, I am going to start doing youtube videos with reviews, hauls, diys, styling tips, etc. Any other ideas for videos the you guys would like to see? Let me know! :)

Black and Red
Hope everyone had a fantastic New Years!! Feels good to be in 2013! I'm not normally one for new year's resolutions so I didn't make any. Did you guys make some? I probably should have resolved to stop shopping, but I think we all know that would never happen! ;)
For New Year's Eve, I actually ended up wearing my new pearl disco pants out! I hadn't worn them out yet because they're so see through, but I tried putting a pair of opaque black tights underneath and you couldn't really see the tights, but it made the pants opaque as well. So try that out if you have any sheer pants and don't feel like having the whole world know what underwear you're wearing!
Anyway, for this look, I just had to pair my red plaid motorcycle jacket from Forever 21 with my red disco pants. As I'm sure you know, I love to mix, but I also love to match! And then, I added my black Jeffrey Campbell Clinics (which are seriously so comfy and easy to walk in-I've been wearing them so much lately!) and my favorite spiked cap from Oasap, which you can get here: http://www.oasap.com/?fuid=10829
Hope you like the look and make sure you make 2013 fabulous, everyone!! :)
