Dotty Reception

Isn't this top from Wholesale Dress so lovely? I love the dots and stripes and how they a mixed together. It's got a bit of a retro vibe and is so fun! The peach color is sold out right now, but they do have it in other colors like teal. I also was sent these thin socks from Wholesale Dress, and they are so perfect for pairing with shoes where you want to wear socks but also are going to have the socks show a bit. I'm definitely going to be wearing these a lot with my mesh boots! Plus, for only 27 cents, you can't go wrong!
You can get the socks HERE and the top HERE.

In other news, I am working on my illustrations a lot more and I can't wait to show them all to you! I also recently went to Global Leathers in NYC and got a bunch of leather to start working with. I am going to try and make a couple bags. By the way, for any students in NYC, definitely go to Global Leathers if you need leather and tell them that you are a student and that you need leather scraps. They have some pretty big pieces, and they are willing to work with you on the prices.

Red Skeletons

I'm obsessed with American Apparel disco pants. They are seriously so comfortable and look good on almost everyone! I grabbed a peacock pair and then decided to pick up a red pair as well. I'm in love with them! I decided to pair them with these silver star Jeffrey Campbell Litas that I snagged for $50 at the David Z. summer sale. I also paired them with my new skeleton tee from http://www.wholesale-dress.net. The back of this tee is white chiffon which adds to the cool, uniqueness of the top. Plus it's less than 5$! Such a great deal!

You can get the top HERE.

Also, I just bought 9 Heads by Nancy Reigelman. I am going to be spending a lot of time with this quite expensive book, so hopefully it will pay off. I actually was able to get it 50% off though at The Strand bookstore in NYC. I was trying to decide between this and Fashion Sketchbook by Bina Abling, so we'll see how this one goes and maybe I'll get the other book when I am done working through this one.

The White Stripes (DIY)

I just received this top from Siren London in the mail. It is just so rocker chic! I love it! The stud accents are my favorite part and it's super comfy. I'm definitely going to be wearing this top a lot.

You can get the top HERE.

As for the jeans, I have already posted on them, but I love them so much so I wear them often. The DIY post can be found HERE.

Anyway, life has been crazy busy with all of my internships and jobs, but I am still going to try to keep up with my sewing and working on some fashion illustrations as well to show you all. I'm currently trying to pick out a fashion drawing book and am leaning towards either 9 Heads or The Fashion Sketchbook. Let me know if you know of any good ones or which is better.

Eye of the Tiger

How fierce is this top from Oasap? I'm totally in love with animal prints lately...and not just the fur prints, more like the screen prints of their faces! I love funky, weird prints on tops and leggings, they're just so cool!

You can get this fierce top at http://www.oasap.com!

Also I took my photos today with my new camera, lens, and tripod. While my camera unfortunately does not have a wireless remote capability, I was still able to get it to focus correctly and I love how the bokeh turned out. I can't wait to shoot more photos. I am also considering doing youtube videos in the future with some DIYs and clothing hauls, etc. What do you all think about me starting a youtube channel? First I need to figure out how to get my camera to focus properly on video though...

This Beat Feels Intergalactic

So, life has been crazy busy lately, but I just sent off my three dresses for the charity fashion show for Dresses for Haiti, so I'm am a tiny bit less stressed for time. I made three dresses, two just inspired by retro styles and playing with textures, and the other was inspired by the Haitian goddess of flowers Erzulie. I made them in a 2, 4, and an 8, so the 4 and the 8 I had to pin in the back when taking the photos, but I am thinking about making another of the maroon one in my own size. It's my personal favorite! Here are the dresses:

I made a matching flower head piece for the Haiti dress. I'm still so in love with flower head pieces. In other news, as I mentioned in a previous post, I am been taking all of my photos with my iPhone, which has not been the best experience...but I just got my new dslr! It turns out you need a dslr for Parsons foundation year, so I got a brand new Canon Rebel T3. I also got a 50mm f1.8 lens, but I'm thinking I might need a zoom lens in order to take close up shots since the 50mm doesn't focus up close... or maybe one of those lens accessories that you just attach on the end of your own lens for macro shots? What do you photographers think? I am such a beginner at all of this. Anyway, I am going to test out my camera and lens with some outfit shots tonight after I get back from my internship. Let me know if you guys have any great camera tips-I feel like I have so much research to do.

And finally, I have to show you all these picture of my dress from Solilor.com. I have been wanting to get on the galaxy trend for some time now, and this dress was perfection! I absolutely adore the colors and the leather trim is just the right amount of edge and interesting detail. The dress is also super comfy, and I can't wait to wear it out dancing or to a party. You can get the dress HERE.

As for the shoes, I made a best offer deal on ebay and got them for 20$ including shipping! They are missing a small grommet on one corner that holds the metal on, but it's not that noticeable. Plus, they were such a great deal, that I can't complain.

Inside the Fridge

I can't believe how awesome this top is from Solilor! Not only is it super comfy and soft, but the print of the inside of a fridge is just so cool! I am definitely going to be wearing this top a lot.

You can get it HERE.

In other news, my lens came and now I am desperately waiting on my camera! I also got a new tripod and some other accessories. I can't wait to test everything out. In the meantime, I have to finish up a bunch of dresses for a charity fashion show I'm doing.

Pearl and Sheer Collar

I am so obsessed with this pearl and sheer collared top from Solilor. The collar is actually attached completely to the shirt with a cutout mesh collar. The pearls are so lovely as well. I think it's such a beautiful design, and I got so many compliments when I wore it shopping and to my internship.

You can get this top HERE.

In other news, I found out that I have to get a dslr camera for my Laboratory class for Foundation year at Parsons. I returned my point and shoot and am using the money to get a 50mm f1.8 lens and a Canon Rebel T3. I am so excited to start using my dslr. The mail needs to come faster-especially since I have to just use my iPhone to take all of my outfit photos for the time being and while the iPhone is great for some photos, when you upload timer photos to the computer, they look very grainy. I am doing my best to edit them to look better, but I can't wait to be able to use a dslr instead!

Not Your Average Stars and Stripes

Hey, guys! So, I happened to be walking in Soho a little while ago and I noticed the sale sign at David Z. I decided to pop in even though I didn't think the sale items would even be in my price range. However, I happily surprised when I saw tons of Jeffrey Campbells at super low markdowns!! You will have to stay tuned to see the other two I chose, but the first was the Jeffrey Campbell Revl Str (for only $30!). These shoes are so comfy and I absolutely adore them. They remind me so much of the Spice Girls. The only con about them is that while they're pretty easy to walk in, if your foot hits the ground on an angle, it would be very easy to stumble or even twist an ankle which worries me, but while I haven't had a chance to try these out around the city, I think I'm okay at walking in them so far.

As for the pants, I am in love with American Apparel disco pants. Minus their hefty price tag. So, when I heard that the American Apparel warehouse was restocking, I hurried in and snagged this pair in bright teal. I also even went back to grab a red pair the next day (it was the last pair, but luckily I got it) because I love them so much. They were on sale for $40, and I got 10% off when I checked in at the warehouse sale on Facebook (just show them your phone at the register). So, they were $36 each. If you are near an American Apparel warehouse location, you should definitely check it out. While the stuff there sometimes has holes in it (all of the disco pants had a tiny hole that was already sewn up in the back at to top by the waistband from the sensors), they're still in great condition and amazing deals! Just look everything over well before purchasing and try on the items in an actual store since the warehouses don't have changing rooms.

This star shirt was sent to me by Oasap. It is so great! It goes with so many things and is super comfy. I really loved how the stars and stripes worked together in this outfit-kind of a punk style for fourth of July! You can grab this top here: http://www.oasap.com/t-shirts-vests/12250-contrast-colored-stars-printing-turned-cuff-short-sleeve-chiffon-t-shirt.html
